Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Offkeep — what you can expect from the service, and what we ask of you.
Draft — not yet in force
This is an outline of what terms of service will cover. Nothing on this page is binding, and the reviewed text will replace it before Offkeep opens for accounts.

Who these terms are between
The Offkeep entity you contract with, who may open an account, and how these terms are accepted.
Your account
Keeping your password and recovery key safe, what happens if you lose them, and the limits on sharing an account between people.
What you store
Your files stay yours. What we may do with the ciphertext to run the service, and what we can never do because we cannot read it.
Acceptable use
The narrow set of things you may not do with the service — and how that is enforced without reading your files.
Plans, billing and refunds
Subscription and pay-as-you-go pricing, renewal and cancellation, and the refund window.
Availability
The uptime we aim for, planned maintenance, and what you are entitled to if we fall short.
Ending the agreement
How you close your account, when we may suspend one, and how long you have to export your data afterwards.
Liability
The limits of our liability, and the risks that stay with you because of end-to-end encryption.
Changes to these terms
How far in advance we tell you about changes, and what happens if you do not accept them.
Governing law
The law that applies and where disputes are heard.
